46 years.
Two families. One ledger.
Dean Perkins started the company in 1980. Tim Kanak runs it now. The license numbers, the crews, and the answer to “can it be repaired?” have not changed.
A pre-med summer in Miami.
Dean Perkins grew up between Ohio and Kentucky. His grandfather worked roofs. Dean did not plan to follow — he started Ohio State as a pre-med student in the late 1970s.
A summer job in Miami changed that. He spent the season climbing roofs for a local contractor and decided medicine could wait. In 1980 he opened Perkins Roofing and took the Miami-Dade contractor exam in the same year. In 1987 he earned the Florida state certified roofing contractor license — CCC1331944 — and the company could work anywhere in the state.
Four decades, six chapters.

46 years and counting.
Six counties served. Two Florida state licenses. One project manager per job.
Tim Kanak.
President since 2022.
Tim joined the company in 2014 in an entry-level role while pursuing a teaching career. He pivoted to roofing within a year, moved through operations manager and vice president, and assumed full ownership in 2022. Dean retired in 2019.
Under Tim, the company has digitized estimating, expanded into Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast, and tightened the maintenance-program offering for commercial portfolios. The structural carpentry and concrete-restoration capabilities — held under the CGC1535402 general contractor license — were brought in-house in the same period.
Two Florida state licenses.
Both licenses permit residential and commercial work in all 67 Florida counties. We carry full general liability and workers compensation insurance; certificates available on request.
